Time to Get Comfy- and BORED!

First of all, we want to thank all of you for your amazingly supportive comments on our last post! We were overwhelmed with all the nice things all of you had to say! Its so great to have such wonderful family and friends!

Also I wanted to respond to a question that I should have mentioned in the last post. Our twins are fraternal- not identical. Their daddy is really hoping we hit the jackpot with one of each- a boy and a girl. I truly don't care what they are! I will take whatever the Lord is sending. We find out just what color to decorate the nursery in another 3 to 4 weeks.

Now for the supper fun news of the week....
This is a picture of our bed. I LOVE this bed! It is by far my favorite piece of furniture. It was the first piece that Travis and I bought together and it is just so ridiculously comfy! BUT it is not so comfy that I want to stay in it all day!!! And unfortunately that is just what my future holds.

We had a pretty frightening scare on Monday night. My VERY quickly growing twin placenta ruptured a blood vessel. I know you have never heard of such a thing. Leave it up to me to have the freakish thing happen! The burst blood vessel led to ALOT of blood loss, a REALLY not fun emergency room visit, and the dreaded two week bed rest!!!

So here I sit (or on the couch) trying to occupy my self by stalking all of your blogs, doing research on twin strollers and the crazy idea of breast feeding two babies at once, and watching re-runs of any reality tv show that is on during the day- which is nothing good even for my low tv standards!

So even though its totally worth it for the two smallest loves of my life, I will be a little bored for the next two weeks. So keep the blog posts coming and let me know if you have any suggestions to make the time fly in this comfy bed of mine.

Our TWO miracles!

I am SO sorry that this picture is terrible! It's the best I had. And it is actually from last Monday- this Monday's wasn't that great. Its SO hard to get a good shot of both of them!

Most of you know about Travis and I's long roller coaster ride of trying to have a baby. Well that ride has taken an AMAZING turn- and a flip, twister, drop and loop all at once! We are SO THRILLED to tell all of you (that don't already know) that this Kikuchi family of TWO will be a family of FOUR this November!!!!

That's right we are expecting TWINS!!!! I am 3 months pregnant with the two miracles that we know my dad and Travis's Grandpa are so excited to send us! Any baby is a miracle, twins are amazing, and our story is incredible!

We have been working with a fertility doctor for well over a year. With him we have had 2 pregnancies take but obviously they did not work out. After a devastating miscarriage in January, we decided to take a break. In mid March one night I was feeling strange and Travis was working late. The thought came to me that I should take a pregnancy test- which I have taken SO many of we should have invested in the company! I took a test thinking it would be another waste of the disappointing plastic and it came out positive. We were shocked to say the least!

Soon after that I had my first ultrasound. It only revealed one baby. Travis had a sigh of relief and my mom was sure it was wrong. I had another before going on my trip and one more after my trip and still we thought there was only one baby. Then came the day- Monday May 12th. I have an ultrasound every Monday and Travis wasn't even with me at the doctor because it was just a routine visit. I was a little nervous because the day before I hadn't been sick like I normally am so when my doctor kept moving the ultrasound around I got a little scared. When I asked what was wrong he said "Nothing. But in your previous ultrasounds one baby was hiding behind the other!" I was stunned!

Two babies did explain why I have been so incredibly sick! It did explain why I have lost 8 pounds since I have been pregnant and why I can barely peel my eyes open every morning after sleeping for 10 hours! Yes I have been terribly sick but I am SO happy to be that way! It is such a strange feeling to be miserable and thrilled at the same time. This is what we asked for and what we have hoped for- for two and a half years!

After a couple days of shock, my nerves turned into pure joy! I am not naive to the fact that this is going to be ALOT of work. But I also know that these babies are meant for us and they will bring an unbelievable amount of happiness and joy into our lives. I am still very nervous about the future but know that the Lord and a wonderful husband will guide me through.

Over the last 3 years you have no idea how many people have told me "As soon as you stop worrying about it you will get pregnant!" Honestly I got SO tired of hearing that cliche. We could look at our story and say those people were right. But, I think our moral to the story is that the Lord has a plan and it will come in His own time. This has been one of the hardest lessons for me to learn and I still don't really understand. But I am so thankful for His plan and getting us to the good part of it! No the GREAT part of it!!!

Moving this back to the top- But there is a new post

So Travis has FINALLY worn me down and has convinced me that we need to set our blog as private.

I know if you are reading this and have a blog then I probably stalk your blog ridiculously. But I'm not sure how many people are really reading our blog. But for those of you that are and would like to continue, please email me at {emilyginn AT yahoo DOT com}~ sorry I hope you can interpret the email address- I don't want to get any more spam emails. So when we make the big change I will be sure to give you all the very VIP access!

No Ordinary Mom!

Unfortunately I have failed as a scrapbooker (and now I guess as a blogger) because I do not have a recent picture of my mom by herself or one of her and I. So this one that I LOVE of her and my handsome husband will have to do.

My mom is no ordinary mom! She is an incredible mom and on this mothers day I just wanted to thank her for that!

Mom, I want to thank you for teaching me about what is truly important in life and for always making me important. I want to thank you for teaching me to have an opinion and to speak it. I want to thank you for teaching me how to pick a good husband, to serve the Lord, to love to read and sleep, to look for those that need service, and to be happy being myself! Also the last year you have definitely taught me how to be strong when faced against the toughest of what life has to throw at us, to do it with the Lord by our side, and to have an eternal perspective!

I know you hate this day where you get a carnation at church, but it is another chance for me to tell you how thankful I am for you! I not only love you, I adore you! Happy Mothers Day!

The Windy City and Lone Star State!

Okay our trip was amazing! We had SO much fun it is ridiculous!

It was ALMOST perfect but unfortunately we had two big disappointments! The first is that my sister in law Kari's grandma passed away so her and my brother Kirk weren't able to come. Kirk is definitely the life of the party so we missed them ALOT! Also, after pulling alot of strings my brother actually got tickets to Oprah BUT they were for the wrong day! Through the chain of people getting the tickets for us, the day got a little mixed up and we had to miss out on the queen of day time. That being said, we still had a SERIOUSLY great time! I have to give a BIG thank you to Tyler and Vicki for planning such a fun 4 days and letting us invade their beautiful home!

We did all of the fun stuff planned and had the chance to just hang out and really celebrate my mom's big day! We ate amazing food for every meal! I think we all gained 10 pounds! We went to Wicked which is now my favorite Broadway show, we went on an awesome tour of the Museum of Science and Industry (which we were surprised we loved so much). We had a private gourmet cooking lesson, and of course shopped Michigan Avenue. We had a great time together and did I mention we ate some serious tastiness!

By the time I got to Texas I was exhausted and actually got a chance to just hang out and relax. My Texas highlights were of course seeing my nieces, shopping for a new car for my mom's birthday, and having the best pedicure ever with my mom and sister!

I am SO thankful for my amazing family and after a long year I realize how priceless our families truly are! Of course I loved all the fun things we did but just being together was definitely the best part!

The Queens Big Day

OK I am back from my trip and I have lots of fun pics to post. But today's post is much more important because it's my sisters birthday!!!! This is her- in a classic Lisa pose. She is a definitely the Queen and even makes her kids call her that!

Lisa and I are exactly 8 years and 9 days apart~ and we could not be more different. She is VERY type A and well, you all know me. She is so skinny I feel like I am going to break her when I hug her, and you all know me. She has to have everything perfect, she loves to cook, she worries about everything, she doesn't care for sports, she has a humanities major from BYU, she wakes up early, she hates the mud and doesn't like to be dirty or sweat, and again you all know me. But one of the things that we agree on is that she is FABULOUS!

Lisa would be the first to tell you that she is crazy, and she is! But she is also tender hearted, helpful, creative, hardworking, compassionate, responsible, has charity for others, gives great advice, is a good listener, makes AWESOME deserts, tells the BEST stories (you MUST read her blog), runs a crazy family well, keeps an absolutely beautiful home, serves the Lord, and honors us all by being a part of our lives! I truly am SO blessed to have her as my sister!

If I didn't have Lisa as my sister I would not have had the coolest hair in elementary school (she would french braid my hair in a circle around my head) or have had a wedding at all, and MANY other things in between! Right before Trav and I got married I lived with her family for a year and then when I was a newlywed we still lived really close. I miss those days for more reason then one, but alot if it was living so close to her.

Lisa I love you so dearly and cherish all you have taught me, your love and support, and our genuine friendship! I am so glad you read a People Magazine, ate a cupcake with a ridiculous amount of frosting, and I am sure drank a Coke on your big day! I couldn't have planned it for you any better myself! Happy Birthday!
