Hi Everyone. This is Lisa, Emily's sister. I can already hear you asking, "aren't you the wiser and cuter sister?" Yup, that's me. Em has asked that I post a twin update and a special prayer request--
Emily has been in the hospital (again) since Monday. Baby B (Ninja) is not doing well. She is not growing. Baby A (Lenni) weighs 3.3 oz. and Baby B weighs only 1.12 oz. Starting on Monday, Emily was given steroids to strengthen their lungs and the girls are being constantly monitored. From a detailed ultrasound, the doctor can see that the artery in Ninja's umbilical cord is damaged. This means that her placenta isn't working the way it should and she is not receiving adequate blood supply, nutrition, etc. They don't know how long the artery has been damaged or why.
Ninja is stressed, but holding steady. If she becomes ANY more distressed, the babies will immediately be delivered by cesarean. Emily is currently at 30 weeks. The goal is to make it to 32 weeks (October 20th). She will not leave the hospital.
Emily has asked for all of you to pray for her baby girls. We are all just hoping that she can stay pregnant as long as possible and that when these girls do arrive, they are as healthy as possible.
I will post updates...thank you!
