2 weeks old!

Its Emily- I'm back! I know my sister is way more hilarious then I am but now that I am feeling better I guess I have to re-claim our blog. You can visit her blog any time by clicking on the first link to the left- it is hilarious! Big thanks to Lisa for keeping everyone informed!!

The girls are 2 weeks old today!!! They really do look older, they are progressing and are doing great. ALOT has happened in a short two week span. We have had surgeries, casts, chest tubes, bacterial infections, blood transfusions, breathing tubes, etc. But they have survived it all and are doing really well. And I must say they are unbelievably adorable!

This is Miss Keagan in her new hat that her Nana (my mom) made her. The unit provides them with hats because when they are held they have to wear one so they can keep warm. Nana was very adamant that they needed matching hats so she went right to work. I think all preemie twins need matching pink hats! Aren't they adorable? Last night she made orange ones with black pom poms on top for their first Halloween. I will outfit them in those today! Nana has been dubbed their official wardrobe provider and their Grandma (Trav's mom) is their official photographer.
Both girls love to sleep with their hands by their faces. Riley sleeps just like me sometimes with her fingers on her chin- I know it's this strange thing I do that Travis loves to take pictures of. Now he can take them of all of his girls. Travis also has a little quirk when he is tired that Keagan does exactly like him! He raises his eyebrows this funny way and I noticed Keagan doing it the other day. It's amazing that they just come this way and that we can already see their cute little personalities and preferences. This is Keagan fast asleep- look at that curly hair!

This is Riley with her pacifier- which she LOVES! The thing is huge for her but she won't take the smaller one for her size. She holds on to it and goes to town. Keagan likes hers now too but it took her a while to figure out what the heck to do with it. After she got her breathing tube out we would put it in her mouth and she would just sit there and stare at us.
Notice Rileys light hair- I think it is lighter then mine but of course it could change dramatically. She also has supper blond eyebrows and eye lashes but her eyes themselves are still really dark. Her sister has really dark hair but much lighter eyes. Trav and I are so curious as to how that is going to turn out.
Our Riley girl wide awake! They are definitely much more alert now especially when we hold them. Both of them definitely know our voices and it is funny as soon as their dad starts talking their eyes are as wide as can be. Not so much with mom. They take their time opening up for me- I guess they are so used to hearing me all the time from the pregnancy that they are already good at tuning me out! :) Doesn't she look great? She is past the big 2 pound marker and you can tell she is starting to fill out. They need to grow and put much more fat on their bodies. I tell each of them that momma would be more than happy to donate!

I know all of you parents know exactly how I feel but the love I have for them is so overwhelming. The best part of my day is being able to hold them just for a little while. The whole world stops and its just me and my girls- could there ever be anything better? This past Thursday we got to hold Keagan for the first time. When I was holding her the nurse gave Riley to Travis and we sat together for the first time as a family in a busy, noisy, sterile hospital unit and it was one of the greatest moments of my life! Both girls were obviously so happy literally with big smiles on their faces- probably because they were back together again! Of course that was the only day I didn't have my camera with me so once I figure out how to get those photos off my cell phone I will post our first family pictures. Priceless!
If I was still pregnant I would still only be 33 weeks along and have at least a month to go. But now that they are here we are SO thankful for the wonderful care they are getting and for all the love and prayers that we feel each day! They are special little girls that are so tough and such fighters but still so sweet. I know the Lord loves us for sending us such amazing little girls! Man am I lucky!

Oh Emily, what a precious story, and it couldn't happen to a more precious couple. They are miracles and I am so happy for you guys and that the girls are doing well. I need to know their full names. Then I promise I will send out that package that has been sitting there for three months. I love you guys. Thanks to Lisa for keeping us informed!

Big congrats you guys! What little loves they are!!! Those preemies grow like weeds--believe me--our 3 lb baby is now a little chub. It goes by so fast. The best advice I ever recieved about having a baby in the NICU is---take in every moment! They're in the best place. They have the best care. Enjoy sitting with them during the day, enjoy the nights you have because you'll be sleepless soon enough. It's a challenge, that is for sure, every day is a series of ups and downs. What a unique experience--it's so hard--but it will be over soon. Love you guys and am SO happy for you!

Emily - WELCOME BACK!!! I missed you! I loved hearing from Lisa, but it's so nice to know you are doing well - well enough to blog at least!! Your girls are darling and I am sorry but I had to laugh at how HUGE that pacifier is! It is a good way to remind us of how small they actually are...I can't imagine it. They are so sweet and precious...and I know you are enjoying every minute of it!!! Congratulations again!!

Emily,

I know this has been a roller coaster ride for you guys, but that only makes it all the more sweeter when you finish the ride, right? They are so absolutely without question DIVINE little beings, with so much happiness to bring AND receive. I am so overwhelmingly happy for you!
